3 HISTORICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS


  1. The zhou people from western china attacked and defeated the shang dynasty in the 12th or 11th century B.C. After that the zhou dynasty lasted for almost 900 years and divided china into small kingdoms that belonged to individual warlords ( local military leaders )with close ties to the dynasty ruler.

  2. The Qin empire stretched from the foothills of the of the Mongolian plateau in the north to the basin of the Chang river in the south. The emperors armies also advanced farther south into the coastal areas near Guang zhou and conquered what later became northern Vietnam.

  3. The Qin dynasty established imperial unity enabling the successive Han dynasty to rule for 4 centuries.

HISTORY CONNECTING WITH BELIEFS


The Chinese belief that when a person dies they have a better life in the after life. So they try to turn the DEAD corpse into a living breathing ancestor. They have learned in the past ( history ) that the hardest part of the funeral is turning the dead corpse into a living breathing ancestor.

  • Ice cream was invented in China around 2000B.C.

  • The Chinese year is based on cycles of the moon, a complete cycle of the Chinese calender takes a total of 60 years.

  • Each year is represented by an animal there are 12 animals for the 12 months.

1 FUN FACT ON CHINA


  • When a Chinese child loses a tooth it doesn't get tucked under a pillow. If it is a bottom tooth the parents take the tooth and plant it in the ground so that the tooth will grow in straight and healthy. If it is a bottom tooth the parents toss the tooth on top of the roof so that the child's tooth will grow upwards to.

HISTORY CONNECTING TO CULTURE


Buddhism is one of the many Chinese religions therefore it is part of the Chinese culture. It is said in early Chinese history that the Buddha named the years after 12 animals that came to visit him before he left the earth. So the Chinese believe that depending on the year you were born you have some characteristic of one of the animals.
